Tuesday Artist Talks

The third TUESDAY of each month

The Artist Talks at the CAP ArtSpace are an opportunity for the public to hear from and learn more about the local artist community.  These events are free.

Tuesday, April 17
featuring Leslie Eliet
6:30 to 7:30pm

Leslie Eliet's exhibit "Pond Studies and Walking(Ink) Meditation, Part X: Under the Bridge", new ink and watercolor paintings and a book of etchings, will be up through the end of April.  At her Artist Talk on April 17, Leslie will talk about her work, her process and her inspirations.

Ms. Eliet earned her Master of Arts degree at Tufts University and studied at the school of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston with Mr. Kaji Aso. She has also shown her work widely, with solo shows in the last ten years in Boston, Chicago and Buffalo. Before moving to Ithaca, Ms. Eliet worked as Associate Director of Fassbender Gallery, Chicago, and as a university museum registrar. She has traveled extensively, especially in Japan and China.

The series Pond Studies refers in part to the Houston Ponds in the Cornell Arboretum, where Ms. Eliet spends part of each day walking, doing Tai Chi and meditating. She describes her work method as another form of meditation, an exploratory process, rendering not so much how the ponds look as how it feels to be there in all weathers and through seasonal changes.

In this exhibition, the prints and paintings explore the changes in the Pond as winter gives way to spring. Leslie can be reached at leseliet@hotmail.com
