So we've morphed our Visual Artist Marketing Group (which had been a pre-existing group of folks who wanted to meet at CAP) into a "Artist Forum and Social" group. The idea is that artist of all disciplines can come, participate in a facilitated discussion for about 45 minutes and then hang around and socialize.
Visual artists in particular usually work in isolation, and CAP wants to provide an opportunity to talk to and meet other artists!
The discussion got pretty interesting (I think) at the last meeting. Future possible discussions were touched on. Some ideas are appropriate for our workshop series (technical issues), some for the forum.
For example, great discussion ideas are:
"What is success for each of us" (making a living, producing, showing?)
"What is the balance between making and selling"
More ideas are welcome!
The forum meets is every third Monday at 7pm at the CAP ArtSpace in Center Ithaca. The front door of Center Ithaca will be locked, so enter via the "Ticket Center", "Visitor Center" entrance, to the left of the store "15 Steps". No fee, bring brownies.
So the next meeting is July 19th.
